Maturation: 18 months in used 3500-liter wooden barrels made from Slavonian wood. Fermentation on the fine lees.

The colour is medium deep golden-yellow. Nose is medium intense, tight, complete, showing a classic cool climate Chardonnay. It is reminiscent of butter, bread crust, white flowers, ripe continental fruits with touch of oak and caramel. Dry on the palate, medium bodied, with plenty of ripe acidities. Nicely balanced with slightly oily texture. Intense and persistent. After elegant 2105 and rich 2017 is 2018 closer to former. Elegant with plenty of character, tension of a classic Chardonnay and very long length. Great food companion.
2018 was marked by huge downy mildew pressure in June, followed by a period of warm and dry weather in July and August. Rain in early September rushed winegrowers to pick early ripening varieties quickly while late-ripening varieties enjoyed a nice warm Indian summer. Wines of 2018 vintage in our winery are marked by low to moderate alcohol levels, vibrant acidities and clear, defined varietal characteristics. A classic Styrian vintage.
Pairing with food: Grilled seafood, fish and shellfish, Wiener schnitzel pork and poultry.
