Malvasia Istriana by Skerk is a great pure and typical interpretation of the Carso area, aged for 24 months in oak barrels. The intriguing olfactory framework is painted by touches of resin, honey, apricot jam and caramel. On the palate it relaxes with balsamic elegance and freshness in a juicy, full and delicately mineral taste. Wine made with old style artisanal methods.
The Skerk Malvasía wine is made exclusively with grapes from a centuries-old Hellenic strain of Malvasia that has been growing in the Carso region since ancient times. This area lies on the border between Italy and Slovenia. The grapes are vinified in cellars dug directly into the limestone. They are harvested at their optimum point of ripeness, selected in the vineyard, and when they reach the winery they undergo a prolonged skin-contact maceration. The must ferments with its native yeasts and is aged in wood at a controlled temperature. The resulting wine is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.
