Boris’s tip: Tipical wine for Slovenian Istra. Don’t forget to try it with prosciuto.
The color is intense reddish purple. In the nose we get a mix of ripe cherries, pickled blueberries, prunes, dried cranberries, black pepper, licorice, bay leaf and more. Already the smell indicates Mediterranean warmth, but also complexity.
In the mouth, the wine is thick, viscous, buttery, it could almost be described as a concentrate. We feel pleasant tannins and high acids, dried cranberries, overripe blueberries, prunes, dried pear compote. In addition to the above, the residual sugar (six grams per liter) and heat due to high alcohol increase the body of the wine, but everything is nicely balanced with the already mentioned high acids. The aftertaste is full, complex and very long, as befits such a wine.
