Zaro

The Zaro family is mentioned in records to 1348. Their coat of arms, which is also depicted in today’s Zaro emblem, expresses a deep belonging to the homeland and a love of land and vines. By respecting the natural resources of the Izola wine-growing region, we are reviving the tradition of viticulture and the original winemaking procedures of Slovenian Istria.

Zaro wines are produced on twenty hectares of vineyards in selected locations, which were already considered top quality and most fertile in the Izola area during the Venetian Republic, where nature has always given rich wines full of passion. With integrated processing, we create wines with a character that satisfies the greatest connoisseurs.

“We are a wine-growing family whose ancestors settled in Izola as long ago as 1348, which is why devotion to the native land and the sea is woven into our life and work like a golden thread. Tradition and rich heritage are carefully nurtured and constantly supplemented, our processing follows ecological principles. Our vineyards and olive groves, which are planted mainly with indigenous varieties, are spread over 20 hectares, on wonderful, fertile locations above Izola, which offer a breathtaking view of almost the entire Slovenian coast, the Gulf of Trieste, the Italian coast all the way to Gradež, the background of which is in clear weather, the magnificent peaks of the Slovenian Alps with Triglav and the Italian Dolomites adorn them.”
