LOVE FOR VINE AND WINE
The first one to start with viticulture was our grandfather Karlo, dad Cvetko was the one who decided to take up the winemaking story more seriously and started to produce open wines in the 1960s.
Here at the Bužinel family we have a long winemaking tradition, as our grandad Karlo was already supplying quite a few restaurant in Ljubljana and Domžale in 1964. Our first wine was bottled in 1985, four years later we gathered with a few other wine makers from the Brda region and established a vintners’ society called Brajda. We started building our wine cellar in 1984 and expanded it in 1998, adding a tasting cupola and a drying room for dry meat products.
Our house wines, which we produce on a 10-hectare property, complement the dishes we offer. Nothing is left to coincidence as every combination has been carefully thought through. In our wine collection we have 6 labels of different varieties, all carrying family members’ names. From white- rebula, Cvetko (former tokay), Elvis belo (chardonnay, sauvignon and rebula) to red- merlot and cabernet sauvignon. In 2012, we launched our sparkling wine Karlo, which is produced by the classical method. We take special pride in our ice wine Ledana from 2009, first ice wine made by a Slovenian littoral vintner.
