Movia Winery: Awards – 9 times Wine & Spirits Top 100 Winery.

The Movia estate: The Movia estate dates back to 1700, passing into the hands of the Kristančič family with a wedding in 1820. The estate extends over 22 hectares of land, about half of which lie on the Italian side of the Goriška Brda (Collio).

Region and vineyards: The most important, decisive investment for any wine producer is his vineyard. A good vineyard, however, requires more, its demands time. It requires patient waiting for the vineyard to mature, to acquire wisdom and to start its coexistence with the vintner and begin developing its own style.

The cellar: The most important, decisive investment for any wine producer is his vineyard. A good wine cellar, barrels, technique and technology only require knowledge and financial resources.

Life: The production of wines in harmony with nature, the vine and the cosmos has been embedded in the thinking and work of Aleš Kristančič since the very beginning.

Sustainable farming, which has always been a priority when working in the vineyard, has also been transferred to everyday life in the cellar. All our vineyards are fertilized with biodynamic preparations, and Movia wines are fermented exclusively with indigenous yeasts. We do not use any additives in the winery; the exception is sulphur, and even then in minimal doses and not in all wines. We clean the basement with steam so that the water returns to nature without contamination.

In 2004, our winery obtained an organic certificate.
