Organic red is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah, presented in roughly equal parts.
The vine is 14 years old and planted on flysch at an altitude of between 100 and 120 meters. The vineyard has a spectacular amphitheater shape, facing southwest with a beautiful view of the Bay of Koper.
The grapes are harvested by hand when overripe. Each of the varieties is vinified separately. This is followed by maceration in open tubs for up to 4 weeks without temperature control. After gentle pressing, the young wine matures for two years in used oak barrels. In the end, all three varieties are combined to mature for two months in stainless steel containers. Bottling takes place without filtration and with minimal addition of sulfur. Bottled wine matures for another six months before it hits the market.
Gordia red has a deep, ruby red color with a dense texture. The aromas are intense and seductive – black currant, blackberry, dried chokeberry, anise, a note of licorice, dried red roses, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and light notes of graphite. The taste is intense, warm and soft, it pleasantly refreshes the mouth and the tannins dry them. Whine is dry in the mouth, has alot of tannins, full body, high acidity and ruby texture. Aftertaste is long.
